| Introduction | |
| Pub chains are the big thing in Moscow. The owners of beer pubs (usually
called "beer bars" in Russia) try their best to open several pubs under
the same name, to cover as much customers as possible in our enormous city.
They're usually situated far from each other in different parts of Moscow.

| As you can guess from the name, these places pretend to be
"traditional bavarian beer-houses", despite the fact that they sell only
a few beers from Bavaria. "Bavarius" are large, sturdy pubs/restaurants with comfortable oak chairs and tables. On the bar counter they have casks with beer set into the wall. Both restaurants have a terrace and a nice summertime outside seating. Meals are typical German - huge sausages, sauerkraut, grilled chicken. The main problem of that pub chain are the prices. If you're ready to pay 5 Euros for a half litre of Krombacher Pils then you might really enjoy that place. |

| Traditional russian-style beer restaurants that have their
own-brewed beer on draught only. Probably the best quality beer in Moscow
for a reasonable price. The restaurant is named after a founder of a famous
brewery that functioned in Moscow in the beginning of XX century. Large
old-fashioned interior with pseudo-antique furniture all around. Bar offers tester - all kinds of beer in small glasses, as well as beer in oak kegs and diferent beer cocktails. You can also buy some breweriana souvenirs here. |

I've mentioned the addresses of only those, located in the centre. But if
you'll by chance come across orange signboard with a white beer mug painted
on it, feel free to enter. Pity they have only ordinary pale lager on draught, one of which - Klinskoye Arriva - is absolutely undrinkable. Kruzhka pubs are popular among students and sport fans - every pub has a large monitor showing a Russian sport TV-channel. |

| Piatiy Okean (Fifth Ocean) is not a typical brewpub because
the beer is not brewed in the pub itself. It is delivered in special fermentation
tanks from their microbrewery that is situated in the outskirts of Moscow. There is no traditional bar counter in the pub. Beer taps are mounted on every table and customers have to pour the beer thyemselves. The price is then calculated for every 0.1 litre. They also have a summer beer tent. |

| A large, modern pub situated in the southern district of
Moscow, about 15-20 minutes metro ride from the centre. Quite a stylish and well thought-out interior. There's also a wooden summer terrace attached to the main building. Frankly speaking, this place have nothing to do with traditional Irish porter houses, so I have no idea why it is called so. Well, at least they have one Irish stout on draught. |

| "Shtolnya" ("Mine gallery") is mainly notable for its unusual
interior and selling Timmermans Kriek and Schlenkerla Rauchbier, beers that
are very rare for Russia. This gloomy cellar with massive wooden columns and brick walls is full of attributes of miners: air-hammers, miner's picks, helmets and lamps. Excellent food, big and appetizing portions. Large TV broadcasting most important sports events all day long. |

| Tinkoff started in 1998 from a single pub and microbrewery
in Saint-Petersburg. Now it has expanded to a chain of beer restaurants
located in 9 different towns of Russia and one in Almaty (Kazakhstan). The Moscow restaurant/microbrewery is probably the largest one. It occupies 2 floors of a modern metal and glass building in the centre of the city. The price of beer is a bit high, but really worth this money. You can also choose such an offer as "Beer non-stop". For 799 roubles (22 Euros) you can drink as much beer as you want. The right to produce bottled beer under the brand "Tinkoff" was bought by the russian branch of Inbev in the summer 2005. Hopefully the restaurants and microbreweries are still in the property of the original owner - Oleg Tinkoff. |

| This brewpub is not located in Moscow, but in a town of Serpukhov
that is about 2 hours train ride to the south. Serpukhov is a beautiful
old town, often visited by tourists. The pub and restaurant Traktir Rus
is situated near one of the central squares called Old Marketplace. The small brewery was bought by the restaurant owner from Germany in 1995, and two types of beer they brew there are traditional german-style. This place can get crowded in the evenings, especially on summer weekends - tourists season. |
